Updates on Metabolic Syndrome & CKD

Minapharm organized a scientific meeting discussing the effect of Vitamin D deficiency in Metabolic Syndrome & CKD patients. Vitamin D deficiency is associated with T2DM & metabolic syndrome and also correlates with accelerated atherosclerosis. There is also a significant negative association between serum 25(OH)D level, BMI and body fat percentage. Low and high levels of 25(OH)D are associated with cardiovascular disease, stroke and acute myocardial mortality in a nonlinear, reverse J-shaped manner, with the highest risk at lower levels.
